Breathing space: workshop series from acceptance to self-care

Breathing space: workshop series from acceptance to self-care

Caring for a loved one is often done with love, but the strain can be great. You stand by, arrange appointments, support the other person, keep the household running and in the meantime try to give your own life meaning. In addition, informal care is often accompanied by a feeling of sadness, missing what once was - also called living loss. To support informal caregivers and help them find balance, Mantelzorg Oosterhout organizes the workshop series Mantelzorg van Acceptatie tot Zelfzorg in January.

Practical tools and recognition
The series consists of three meetings that focus on practical exercises and insights. We go into conversation and do practical (ACT) exercises that you yourself can immediately get started. Themes include: reflecting on what is needed for your own balance, setting priorities and boundaries, and exploring the possibilities of care and support. In addition to the exercises, there is plenty of room for meeting and sharing. As caregivers, you are not the only one struggling with balance. Sharing experiences provides support and recognition. Together we look for ways to bear the care, without losing sight of yourself.

These workshops are an invitation to pause, take a breath and move forward with new insights.

Free participation

The workshop series will take place on Jan. 27, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17, 2026, each time from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Theek5 Library on Torenstraat in Oosterhout. Participation is free. You can register via mantelzorg.oosterhout@surplus.nl or via the agenda of www.mantelzorgoosterhout.nl/agenda.
