Host care: what is it? With lodging care we provide temporary care for people who still live at home and receive care from a loved one - an informal caregiver. By taking over the care of the informal caregiver, the informal caregiver can take a breather. This allows him or her to do something completely different for a while: get a good night's sleep, visit family or friends or simply do nothing for a while. This is important because it keeps the informal caregiver healthy and able to last longer.

I felt guilty about that.” Caregiver (female, 65 years old) for a parent: “I and my siblings feel that my mother is sharper in spirit when she has been at the guest house. She is more stimulated by her stay at the guest house.”

Is your loved one eligible for lodging care? Lodge care can be paid from the Social Support Act through your municipality or if you have an indication from the CIZ from the Long-Term Care Act. Host care is intended for elderly people with memory problems and dementia. Are you unsure if your loved one is eligible for lodging care? Discuss it with your family doctor, the dementia case manager, the district nurse, Wmo client manager or social worker of your municipality. They know the possibilities and the application procedure. Do not wait too long and discuss the possibilities of lodging care. Getting used to lodging on time has only advantages!
