From June 1 to 7 it is the Week of the Young Caregiver. In order to make young people aware of what a family caregiver actually is and that they might even be one themselves, Surplus is launching the ‘Co-MogelijkMakers’ campaign during that week. This campaign focuses on young people who help a family member. And thus make a lot possible.
Awareness
The Week of the Young Caregiver is a week when Surplus draws extra attention to this often invisible group of young people. One in five young people have care at home, worry or miss care. Many young people do not know they are young caregivers. And that Surplus' youth work and informal care support are there for them! That is why the project MedeMogelijkMakers was started. After all, young family caregivers make a lot possible. And that should be seen and appreciated. Hence the campaign.
Co-Promoter
Young people between the ages of ten and eighteen who care for a mother, father, brother, sister, grandfather or grandmother are Co-Promoters. All kinds of examples can be thought of. For example, it could be about having to help because a mother is chronically ill. Or always having to take into account a brother or sister with autism. There are also young people who have to accompany their parents to the hospital because they do not understand and speak the Dutch language well. Or young people who have to deal with addicted parents and therefore have to take care of a lot at home.
Campaign
Voor de campagne zijn drie jonge mantelzorgers geportretteerd uit de regio West-Brabant, Serena, Ali en Noael. Zij laten zien hoe hun belevingswereld is. Zo maakt de campagne jongeren bewust van wat jonge mantelzorgers doen en of zij misschien ook op dergelijke wijze zorgen voor een gezinslid.
De campagne gaat 1 juni live en is te zien op social media en door middel van posters op verschillende plekken in de gemeenten.
Surplus
Surplus ondersteunt mantelzorgers in de gemeenten Etten-Leur, Geertruidenberg, Halderberge, Moerdijk, Oosterhout en Zundert. De lokale teams bieden een luisterend oor, hulp, ondersteuning, trainingen en cursussen. Surplus biedt een compleet aanbod op het gebied van welzijn, wonen, thuiszorg en behandeling.
