Buddy wanted: informal care from Surplus

Buddy wanted: informal care from Surplus

Do you have memory problems, mental or physical complaints? Are you looking for structure, a sounding board or an enjoyable day? Doing things together and looking ahead?

Surplus Buddy Aid is there for people who, for various reasons, could use support with the challenges of everyday life. Think of people with a chronic condition, such as non-congenital brain injury or Parkinson's disease, or people with psychological complaints such as burn-out or depression. People who have (recently) lost a loved one can also benefit from Buddy Aid.

A buddy listens, thinks with you and is a sounding board. Together you work towards a goal that suits you. A buddy can also provide indirect relief for informal caregivers. When a buddy spends time with a buddy aid participant, the caregiver has time to recharge his batteries or do something for himself (respite care). This can help to better sustain care.

The support by a (volunteer) buddy is free of charge. A buddy meets once a week for a maximum of two years. At fixed intervals the progress and goals are evaluated.
