Dementia & Now (Morning Group)

June 4, 2026

More and more people are dealing with dementia. As a person, partner, child, friend or neighbor. Understanding what is going on in your loved one while continuing to take good care of yourself can be a challenge. Surplus organizes the Dementia and (N)u support group five times a year.

During the meetings of Dementia and (N)u, developed by the Into d'mentia Foundation, you as a caregiver gain insight into what is happening in the mind of your loved one. You learn to cope better with behavior that changes, how to set boundaries and how to ensure balance in your own life. In addition, there is plenty of room to share experiences and find support from each other.

We will discuss situations such as:
“My partner keeps asking questions. I notice that my patience is running out, but then feel guilty. How do I keep this up?” or
“My mother wants to go home at night when she ís already home. She gets restless, angry even, when I try to reassure her. How do I deal with this?’

The course provides not only knowledge, but more importantly recognition, acknowledgement and practical tips. Together with other family caregivers we will discuss the impact of dementia on brain, behavior and communication, care options, safety, finances and more.

The new group starts Thursday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at Activity Center De Slotjes in Oosterhout.
The meetings other meetings will take place at June 11, June 18, June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16 and July 23.
