The week of informal care is from November 10 to 15. We pay extra attention to all informal caregivers who are ready for another person every day. Besides all kinds of activities, Surplus is launching the campaign ‘Throw open your mantle, make your care(s) visible.
Many family caregivers do not call themselves family caregivers
They simply care, out of love or a sense of duty. As a result, the care they provide often remains invisible. For those around them and for themselves. The cloak symbolizes everything that comes along with that care: warmth, loyalty, fatigue. Sometimes it weighs heavily on your shoulders. The campaign invites people to throw open that mantle: to make your care visible, find recognition and find their way to Surplus' Mantelzorgpunten. Because sharing and acknowledging makes a world of difference
From videos to a neighborhood story box
Have you seen the campaign yet? The online video, or the interactive quiz ‘Am I a caregiver?’ Or did you come across the posters in your community? Or have you shared your concern through the Story Box, which travels the municipalities? There are also coat hangers in public places such as the library, stores, cinema and GP surgeries. All aim to raise awareness of the role of informal caregivers and those around them.
The campaign can be seen in the municipalities of Oosterhout, Altena, Etten-Leur, Geertruidenberg, Halderberge, Moerdijk and Zundert. Want to know more? Check out surplus.co.uk/mantel care
